Halal pharmaceuticals have become an essential segment of the overall halal industry worldwide, and halal vaccine represents an important segment of halal pharmacuticals. In 2016, the sector was valued at USD 83 billion and it is expected to grow eight percent each year to reach the level of USD 132 billion by 2022. According to the Global Islamic Economy Report 2017/2018 Malaysia is ranked as the third among the leading countries in developing the halal pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industry. The latest development in this industry is marked by the advent of the halal vaccines and Malaysia is becoming among the important producing nations for such products.
