BACKGROUND
As a rapidly developing state in Malaysia and home to a multi-ethnic and multi-religious society, Selangor faces various societal challenges involving relations between ethnic and religious communities. This convention provides an interfaith dialogue platform, underpinned by the spirit of mutual respect and consultation, for coming up with potential solutions or measures to improve relations between communities in the state. Through this platform of dialogue, it is hoped that leaders of various religious backgrounds may interact with one another in sharing their aspirations, priorities, and sensitivities in the pursuit of enhancing unity and mutual understanding within the society in Selangor.
OBJECTIVES
a. To serve as a platform for interaction and exchange of ideas between religious leaders in Selangor, particularly towards enhancing mutual understanding between religious and ethnic communities.
b. To identify the underpinning principles in various religions that can encourage and foster interreligious and interethnic unity in the state of Selangor.
c. To gain a better understanding of sensitive issues emanating from ethnic and religious diversity.
d. To identify points of agreement between leaders of various religions in addressing societal issues in Selangor and provide practical policy recommendations.
e. To promote Selangor as a state that is committed to the inter-religious unity agenda and a model state at the international level.
